Summary:
As an Engineer - Mid-level Engineer, Human System Integration (Engineer, Human Systems Integration II) to support an upcoming effort at NAVWAR HQ in downtown San Diego. Human Systems Integration (HSI) Engineers integrate human considerations into the engineering of systems. HSI Engineers deal with the application of information on physical and psychological characteristics to the design of devices and systems for human use, with the objective to reduce total ownership cost while optimizing total mission performance. The ideal candidate will have existing experience with US Navy or other DoD environments and applications.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess, design, and implement human-centered solutions across various projects.
- HSI Engineers are required to conduct integrated and comprehensive analysis, design and assessment of requirements, concepts, and resources across seven domains of manpower, personnel training, human factors engineering, habitability, survivability, and environment, occupational health and safety.
- Apply your knowledge of human factors engineering to enhance the usability, safety, and effectiveness of complex systems.
- Utilize your experience to analyze network and computing events to identify and document malicious or unauthorized activity.
- Conduct initial, formal incident reporting and document technical details using established guidelines.
- Use appropriate techniques to scope, contain, and eradicate incidents based on established processes.
- Support the transition of network defense configurations to prevent future occurrences.
- Ensure the continuity of services as tools, data sources, and techniques evolve with the technical computing environment.
- Mentor and guide junior team members in human systems integration principles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, mathematics, or physics. (ME/EE/IE/CSE or other ABET recognized engineering curriculum is preferred.)
- DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- Six (6) years of recent, relevant experience in Government related R&D, T&E, and systems acquisition programs.
- Significant experience in U.S. Navy/DoD programs or operations is highly preferred.
- Four (4) years of relevant HSI engineering experience in at least 3 of the following areas:
- Comparative multi-domain HSI engineering analysis, impact assessments, trade-off studies of complex systems.
- HSI design, installation, integration, and test support either in a laboratory or direct applications.
- Design documentation/specification development.
- HSI test planning and test procedures development, test conduct, analysis, and reporting.
- HSI-related engineering requirements, performance and risk analysis.
- Applying engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test or evaluate systems.
- Conducting Task Analyses (e.g., Mission Task Analysis, Top-Down Functional Analysis, Critical Task Analysis).
- Design, installation, integration, and test support either in a laboratory or operational systems.
- Understand Naval operations from unit level through operational staff and headquarters planning.
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant experience in at least 2 of the following areas:
- User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) design.
- Human-computer interaction.
- Cognitive workload assessment.
- Usability testing and evaluation.
- Ergonomic design and assessment.
- Human-centered design principles.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for clearance at this location.
